The yoga mat is probably the most used item of equipment when practising yoga, so you’re going to be using it a lot. Therefore, it is quite a certainty that you’ll need some sort of transportation device to help you carry your yoga mat around between classes – plastic supermarket carrier bags just won’t help very much! Your yoga mat bag will help you fold or roll your yoga mat away neatly and will allow you to easily carry it around or store it away neatly, especially if you aren’t going to be using it for a few days/weeks/months/years. You might find sizes such as ‘regular’, ‘large’, or ‘XL’, but you’ll probably want to mostly just make sure the size of your mat will fit in – after all that’s the main reason for having the bag in the first place.

Yoga mat bags can generally be washed at home if needed, although if you wish to make sure the colours don’t run too much, then dry cleaning might be beneficial if you want to keep the bag looking nice. Of course the type of cleaning required will depend on the materials used so always check any labels before washing/drying.

The price for a yoga mat bag can set you back anywhere between about £10-£20 depending on design and materials used. It might be a better option to look out for an included mat bag when buying your actual yoga mat so you get a better deal.
